Embroidery Day is a new and still unofficial holiday, which is celebrated on the third Thursday in May. In 2020, this day falls on May 21.
This holiday originated in Chernivtsi in 2006 among students of Chernivtsi National University of Yuri Fedkovych, and a few years later became international.
The history of embroidery dates back to time immemorial. For our ancestors, the embroidered shirt was not just a garment, but also a talisman that protected from disease or evil spirits. It is a part of Ukrainian culture, Ukrainian national tradition.
